What do you want from your wedding?

December 8th, 2007 by DJ Eddie Z

Around the holidays there seems to be a large influx in the amount of proposals. I don’t know if it is the spirit of the season, the family togetherness, or the mistletoe. Many couple will start planning their weddings shortly after the engagement, so I thought I would write a post on getting what you want out of your wedding day.

Many future brides have thought about this day for their entire lives. Planning each and every detail either in their mind or on paper (My girlfriend has a notebook full of ideas that she has been keeping since she was little). Many brides focus very closely on the flowers, chair covers, ice sculptures and centerpieces. One fixture of their wedding day that seems to get overlooked is the entertainment factor.

Of course, there has been a large number of discussions on the Ipod Wedding, but we will save that discussion for another post. Everybody seems to have an Uncle or sister’s-friend’s-brother’s-second cousin’s-former babysitter who is a DJ. The question that comes is: What do you want your guests to remember when they walk away from your event?

According to a national bridal survey:

AFTER THE VOWS…

  • 72% of all brides say they would have spent more time choosing their reception entertainment.
  • Almost 100% say they would have spent more of their budget on the entertainment.
  • During wedding planning, Brides say their highest priority is their attire, followed by the reception site and caterer - reception entertainment is among the least of their priorities. Within one week after their reception, 78% of Brides say they would have made the entertainment their highest priority!
  • When asked 81% of guests say the thing they remember most about a wedding is the entertainment.
  • 65% of all couples that chose a band to entertain at their wedding, said, if they had it to do over again, they would have chosen a disc jockey.

*These statistics were published in St. Louis Bride & Groom Magazine in 2003. Sources include: Simmons, 2001; USA Today, 2002; National Bridal Service, 2001; The Knot, 2002; Brides Magazine, 2001.

You need to hire an entertainer who will help coordinate and direct and plan your event who will help your event run more smoothly and offer a more fun experience for you and your guests. Make sure you hire someone who has the personality you want for your event, and someone who will custom cater your event for your needs,  not offer you a cookie-cutter performance that they have been performing for 15 years.

You need someone who will match the event that you are creating. If you are holding a very elegant reception, you don’t want someone showing up in shorts and a hawaiin shirt playing all unedited hip-hop.

When choosing your entertainment take the time to research your DJs, decide which one best fits the atmosphere you are creating (or one who will help create that event), and will offer you a stress free and flawless event.

Feel free to contact us and discuss what we can offer you for your wedding day.

Have you been looking for something different for your upcoming wedding?

Sound Bytes Entertainment is your one stop source for a fully tailored event!

After observing many other disc jockeys perform, we knew that we wanted to create a different type of disc jockey company. Our company specializes in creating extravagant events. From the beginning, we wanted to be known as more that just disc jockeys. We wanted to be viewed as entertainers, and in addition, event coordinators.

So what does an Event Coordinator do?

- Event planner
- Music programmer
- Crowd pleaser
- Dance floor analyst; that is, they can read the reaction of the guests and anticipate appropriate music to keep them satisfied
- Master of Ceremonies
- Personalize events to the client’s expectations
- Provide ideas to make clients and their guests feel more involved
- Provides a wide range of genres of music
- Innovator and Outward thinker
